U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito has expressed her support for the confirmation of Scott Bessent as the new Secretary of the Treasury. Following her vote, she released a statement explaining her decision.

“The American people, frustrated with the high cost of living and barriers to growth, elected President Trump to restore strength and confidence in the U.S. economy,” said Senator Capito. “Mr. Bessent is a well-qualified choice to lead the Treasury Department and I was proud to vote to confirm him. I am confident that Mr. Bessent will lead in this crucial position in a way that will support pro-growth economic policies, protect our national security, and improve global competitiveness.”

The confirmation marks a significant step as Scott Bessent takes on his role within President Trump’s administration.
