U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), Ranking Member of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies (Labor-HHS), toured the expansion project at West Virginia Health Right’s main facility in Charleston, West Virginia. The expansion is scheduled for completion later this month and was partly funded through a Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS) award secured by Senator Capito in September 2022.

“West Virginia Health Right provides vital care and service to West Virginians when they need it most, and their impact is indicative by their rapid growth in the Kanawha River Valley over the past decade. The desire and passion of their workforce to help the people of our state was evident when I visited their West Side clinic in 2021, and shortly after that, I worked to secure needed funding to make expansion efforts possible. This soon-to-be completed, expanded, and updated facility will give West Virginia Health Right the capacity they need to serve West Virginians well into the future, and I’m proud to play a role in making that happen,” Senator Capito said.

Senator Capito has long supported the mission of West Virginia Health Right and their efforts to provide care to underserved populations. In June 2021, she participated in the opening of the West Virginia Health Right clinic on Charleston’s West Side. In September 2022, Senator Capito secured $4 million through a Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) CDS request to assist in the expansion efforts for West Virginia Health Right that she toured today.
