Madison Grant Sergent, a 27-year-old resident of Huntington, West Virginia, has been sentenced to one year and one day in federal prison for her role in aiding and abetting the distribution of methamphetamine. Following her prison term, Sergent will be subject to three years of supervised release.

Court records show that on July 23, 2024, Sergent directed another individual to sell approximately 24 grams of methamphetamine to a confidential informant for $180 in Huntington. As part of her plea agreement, she admitted to arranging the drug transaction after being contacted by the informant seeking to purchase methamphetamine.

Two co-defendants were also sentenced in connection with this case. Rakai Travall Hawkins, also known as “G,” age 31 from Detroit, Michigan, received an eight-year and one-month prison sentence followed by four years of supervised release for possession with intent to distribute more than 50 grams of methamphetamine and over 40 grams of fentanyl. Jeremiah Telmon-Isaiah Hand, also known as “Joey,” age 30 from Inkster, Michigan, was sentenced to four years in prison and three years of supervised release after pleading guilty to distributing methamphetamine.

United States Attorney Moore Capito announced the sentencing and praised the efforts of the Huntington Violent Crime and Drug Task Force along with the Huntington Police Department for their investigative work.

United States District Judge Robert C. Chambers handed down the sentence. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Courtney L. Finney.

The prosecution was conducted under Operation Synthetic Opioid Surge (SOS), which aims to reduce the supply of synthetic opioids in areas most affected by these drugs. The case is also part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative focused on combating illegal immigration, dismantling cartels and transnational criminal organizations, and protecting communities from violent crime.
