Judicial Vacancy Advisory Commission seeks applicants for Cabell County judge position

The Judicial Vacancy Advisory Commission (JVAC) has opened the application process to fill a judicial vacancy in the 6th Judicial Circuit, which covers Cabell County. The position became available following the retirement of Judge Paul T. Farrell.

Applicants interested in the circuit court vacancy must complete an application form and submit it either by email to JVAC@wv.gov or by mail to the Judicial Vacancy Advisory Commission at the Office of General Counsel to the Governor, located at 1900 Kanawha Boulevard, East, Charleston, West Virginia 25305.

Completed applications, along with letters of recommendation or comment, are due by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, October 20, 2025. The commission will conduct interviews with candidates in Charleston on Friday, October 31, 2025.
