WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced resources from several federal agencies for projects supporting initiatives across West Virginia. These initiatives include economic development, education, environmental cleanup, and drug interdiction.
Senator Capito detailed grants from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for various health projects in West Virginia:
– $8,036,732 to the AFL-CIO Appalachian Council, Inc. (Charleston)
– $7,799,531 to Northern Panhandle Head Start, Inc. (Wheeling)
– $5,339,590 to the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (WV DHHR) (Charleston) for overdose tracking and prevention
– Additional funding was allocated to other health-related programs across the state.
Funding from the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) includes:
– $16,487,073 to the Washington/Baltimore HIDTA region
– $10,146,950 to the Appalachian HIDTA region
The Department of Education awarded:
– $1,956,655 through its Rural Postsecondary and Economic Development Program to EdVenture Group Inc. (Morgantown)
The U.S. Department of Labor granted:
