U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito from West Virginia has announced her support for Jamieson Greer as the new United States Trade Representative (USTR). Following a vote to confirm Greer, Capito released a statement emphasizing the importance of the USTR role in advocating for workers and businesses in West Virginia.

“West Virginia workers and businesses count on the USTR to advocate for them and secure the best deal possible around the world,” Capito stated. She highlighted the significance of this position, particularly for the state’s manufacturing sector, and expressed confidence in Greer’s ability to fulfill these responsibilities. “I believe that Jamieson Greer is that person and holds the knowledge and skills that this position demands,” she added.

Capito also noted her anticipation of working with Greer alongside the Trump administration to prioritize West Virginia’s economic interests. Earlier in February, she met with Greer to discuss his nomination and gain insight into his vision for leadership as USTR.
