On July 17, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV), member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced $5,941,303 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to strengthen healthcare services and bolster the healthcare workforce across West Virginia. The funding will specifically be used to increase access to HIV/AIDS treatment, expand two Nurse Practitioner (NP) residency and fellowship training programs, strengthen substance use disorder treatment services and advance critical research into oral diseases and disorders through Marshall University.
