AFGHANISTAN

Committee on Armed Services: Committee received a closed briefing on recent events in Afghanistan from General Austin Scott Miller, former Commander of U.S. Forces-Afghanistan.

SECURITIES AND EXCHANGE COMMISSION OVERSIGHT

Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs: Committee concluded an oversight hearing to examine the Securities and Exchange Commission, including S. 354, to reauthorize funding to the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority contingent on improvements to the governance and operations of the Transit Authority, S. 1815, to amend the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 to require issuers to disclose to the Securities and Exchange Commission information regarding workforce management policies, practices, and performance, S. 1217, to amend the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 to require certain disclosures relating to climate change, and S. 808, to amend the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 to promote transparency in the oversight of cybersecurity risks at publicly traded companies, after receiving testimony from Gary Gensler, Chair, Securities and Exchange Commission.

Committee on Foreign Relations: Committee concluded a hearing to examine the United States withdrawal from Afghanistan, after receiving testimony from Antony J. Blinken, Secretary of State.

NOMINATIONS

Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs: Committee concluded a hearing to examine the nominations of Tovah R. Calderon, to be an Associate Judge of the District of Columbia Court of Appeals, and Kenia Seoane Lopez, Rupa Ranga Puttagunta, and Sean C. Staples, each to be an Associate Judge of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia, after the nominees testified and answered questions in their own behalf.

NOMINATIONS

Committee on the Judiciary: Committee concluded a hearing to examine the nominations of Beth Robinson, of Vermont, to be United States Circuit Judge for the Second Circuit, who was introduced by Senators Leahy and Sanders, Jennifer Sung, of Oregon, to be United States Circuit Judge for the Ninth Circuit, who was introduced by Senators Wyden and Merkley, Rahul Gupta, of West Virginia, to be Director of National Drug Control Policy, who was introduced by Senators Manchin and Capito, and Elizabeth Prelogar, of Idaho, to be Solicitor General of the United States, Department of Justice, after the nominees testified and answered questions in their own behalf.

INTELLIGENCE

Select Committee on Intelligence: Committee met in closed session to receive a briefing on certain intelligence matters from officials of the intelligence community.
