Senators Drop Pioneers 4-2

Davis & Elkins was able to shake off two goals given up early in a Saturday afternoon home contest before rattling off three first half goals and another second half goal to secure a 4-1 win over Glenville State.

Glenville's Merel Smets got the scoring started early with a goal in the fourth minute of the game. Tori Cutright assisted.

Three minutes later, the Pioneers' Tessa Cinotti scored off an Alyssa West assist and the Senators found themselves down 2-0 with less than eight minutes expired in the game.

In the thirtieth minute, Alexa Karsel fed the ball to Seika Ikezoe as she got past the defense and Ikezoe found the back of the net for the fifth time on the season.

In the thirty-third minute, Danielle Grimmer tied the game with her first goal of the season. Karsel again provided the assist.

The Senators scored the go-ahead goal in the thirty-eight minute. Sachiko Gamo scored the game-winner. Karsel provided her third assist of the match and the Senators finished the half with a 3-2 lead.

The Senators scored once again in the second half and once again Karsel provided the assist. This time, Madison Rose provided the goal and it was Rose's fifth of the season.

D&E moved to 6-4-1 overall and 5-4-1 in the Mountain East Conference.

The Senators sit in a tie for third in the MEC South with Concord. D&E plays Concord next in a Wednesday evening home contest at 5pm. In their last matchup, D&E beat Concord 2-1 on the road.
