The Fairmont State wrestling team traveled to The University of Pittsburgh Johnstown for the UPJ Duals against three tough Division II opponents.The Falcons started the day against King University and fell short in a very tightly contested dual, 26-21. 125 Brandan Myers got the dual started with an impressive comeback victory 11-9 to give the Fighting Falcons a 3-0 lead. 133 Nate Pelesky continued his hot start to the season after getting a win by fall to improve the lead to 9-0. 133 Austin Brett bumped up to 141 for the Falcons and got a solid decision win to make the score 12-0. King started their comeback and rattled off over 4 straight wins to make the score 20-14. 184 Austin Gibson was up for the task and got solid decision win to make the score 20-17 King. 197 Aydan Edwards followed suit and got a huge win by fall to the Falcons back the lead 21-20. The dual came down to Heavyweight where King would prevail winning by fall to seal the win 26-21. In the next two matches your Fighting Falcons battled against #6 UPJ and #19 Lake Erie. 197 Aydan Edwards finished with a 2-1 record on the day and almost knocked off the #2 Ranked wrestler in the Super 1 Region.
The Fighting Falcons are back in action Dec. 10 when the wrestling team heads to VMI for a tri meet against DI VMI and DIII Shenandoah.
