U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) visited Jackson County, West Virginia, to tour BHE Renewables' solar energy microgrid-powered industrial site. This facility, a subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway Energy and operating under Titanium Metals Corporation, Inc. (TIMET), is expected to create approximately 200 jobs in titanium product manufacturing for the aerospace and other industries. Senator Capito had previously attended the groundbreaking ceremony for this significant development project in March 2023.

“BHE Renewables has the potential to transform and spark development in Jackson County," said Senator Capito. "My staff and I have been involved in this process from the very beginning because we recognize the importance of smart economic growth to our state."

Throughout the week, Senator Capito engaged with community leaders across various sectors in West Virginia, highlighting ongoing economic development efforts. On Monday, she delivered a keynote address at the Keystone Space Collaborative’s 2024 Conference in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, which focused on how the space industry affects the Appalachian economy.

On Tuesday, she participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony for WVU Medicine's Thomas Orthopedic Hospital in Charleston, West Virginia. The hospital provides surgical units and therapy services among other facilities. Senator Capito also observed training sessions at the West Virginia Hospital Association’s LEAD program for new healthcare managers.

Her Wednesday itinerary included participation in the West Virginia Energy Summit where she received recognition as "Woman of the Year" by West Virginia Women in Energy. She also spoke with members of the West Virginia Broadcasters Association regarding industry concerns.

Additionally, Senator Capito appeared on Fox Business Network's “Mornings with Maria” to discuss issues like border security and inflation.

Photos from these events were shared showcasing her involvement throughout the week.
