The West Virginia Department of Health, Department of Health Facilities, and Department of Human Services have opened applications for their 2025 Summer Internship Program. The Office of Shared Administration's Office of Human Resources Management is looking for students interested in gaining practical work experience.

"This is an excellent opportunity for any student interested in pursuing a career in health, human services, or health facilities," stated Angie Jacobs-Ferris, Chief Human Resources Officer. "These internships provide invaluable hands-on experience and can open doors for future careers in West Virginia government."

Chelsea Bihlmeyer, an intern with the Department of Health’s Communications Office, described her time as rewarding: "My experience in the internship program with the Communication Office at the West Virginia Department of Health has been rewarding, filled with hands-on opportunities on varied projects. Working with a supportive and talented team, I have had the privilege to contribute meaningfully to work that has a real impact on public health communication."

Ashley Ritenour from the Department of Human Services shared similar thoughts: "My time so far interning at DoHS has been incredibly rewarding. I have had the opportunity to expand my skills in numerous ways, build valuable connections, and gain experiences that will undoubtedly benefit me in the months ahead and as I continue to grow professionally."

The program offers competitive wages and flexible schedules. Free housing is available for those working in Charleston. Eligibility requires completion of 30 college credit hours with a minimum 2.5 GPA and eligibility to work in the U.S.
