U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito, a member of the Senate Republican Leadership, issued a statement following President Donald J. Trump's address to Congress. The senator expressed approval of the president's speech, highlighting its focus on several key issues.

"President Trump’s address was a refreshing change from the previous four years," Capito stated. She praised the president for delivering "a strong and optimistic vision for our country—one that prioritizes securing our border, unleashing American energy, strengthening our military, and providing much needed tax relief for hardworking families."

Capito emphasized that these issues are important to West Virginians and noted the support President Trump received from voters in her state and across the nation. She also expressed encouragement regarding Trump's emphasis on domestic energy production, particularly in states like West Virginia where coal, natural gas, and manufacturing are significant.

"We are off to a strong start already," Capito continued. "But I know our brightest days are ahead." She expressed eagerness to work with Congress and the Trump administration to implement the president's agenda, aiming to deliver tangible results for people in West Virginia and nationwide.
