A man from Rock Cave, West Virginia, has pleaded guilty to distributing methamphetamine in Upshur County. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Matthew L. Harvey.
Colton Darrell Lester, 37, admitted to selling more than five grams of methamphetamine. Investigators reported that agents purchased the drug from Lester on several occasions during their investigation.
Lester could face a prison sentence ranging from five to forty years. The final sentence will be determined by a federal district court judge after reviewing the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other legal factors.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen Warner. The Mountain Region Drug Task Force, which receives funding through the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) program, conducted the investigation.
This prosecution falls under Operation Take Back America, a nationwide Department of Justice initiative aimed at dismantling cartels and transnational criminal organizations, addressing violent crime, and countering illegal immigration.
U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael John Aloi presided over the case.
