The West Virginia Department of Human Services (DoHS) has announced an extension for the application deadline to report food loss for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients. This decision follows approval from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).

The extension is specifically for SNAP beneficiaries in Marion, Monongalia, and Ohio counties who experienced food loss due to severe storms starting on June 14, 2025. The new deadline for reporting such losses is now set for July 7, 2025.

Eligibility criteria for replacement benefits include residing in one of the affected counties, currently receiving SNAP benefits, experiencing a power outage lasting over four hours that resulted in food loss, and providing verification along with a signed affidavit.

For further details or to apply for replacement benefits, individuals are advised to contact their local DoHS county office or call the Office of Constituent Services’ Customer Service Hotline at 1-877-716-1212.
