Travelers are being encouraged by Governor Patrick Morrisey to visit West Virginia during the extended fall season. The state is offering a 20 percent discount on three-night stays at state park lodges through December 30, 2025, with the exception of Thanksgiving Day. The discount can be accessed using the code FallmostHeaven.
Governor Morrisey stated, “We want people from across the country to know that not only are our beautiful national parks open, but you have an opportunity to come and spend time in our state parks as well. If ever there’s a time to come to the Mountain State, it’s right now.”
Jeremy Jones, Director of the West Virginia Division of Forestry, commented on seasonal changes: “While we might be seeing a slower start to the foliage season across some regions of West Virginia, the forests are still gradually transitioning. The cool snap and rain expected this week will help bring to life more of our beloved hues in the weeks ahead.”
The West Virginia Department of Tourism provides a live leaf tracker on its website for visitors and residents seeking optimal locations for viewing autumn colors. Weekly itineraries featuring top destinations and activities are also available via social media channels and at wvtourism.com/press-releases.
Additionally, the Department has reopened the West Virginia Paranormal Trail for fall travelers. This year’s trail includes four new stops, bringing the total number of locations to 21. Since its introduction last year, participants from nearly every U.S. state and several countries have registered for access via a free mobile passport.
