West Virginia University volleyball coach Jen Greeny announced on May 14 the addition of Mirjam Kask, a 6-foot-1 middle blocker from Kiili, Estonia, who will join the Mountaineers for the 2026 season.

The recruitment of Kask is seen as an important step for the team as it looks to strengthen its roster with international talent. Her experience in European leagues is expected to contribute both on and off the court.

“We’re thrilled to add Mirjam to the West Virginia volleyball family,” Greeny said. “Mirjam is an exciting middle blocker from Estonia who brings a strong physical presence, competitive mindset and tremendous upside to our program. We’re excited to see the impact she will have both on and off the court.”

Kask most recently played with Volleyball Club VA UNIZA Žilina in Slovakia, where she helped her team earn second place in the Slovak Cup and third place in the Slovak Extraleague during the 2025–26 season. Before that, she competed in Estonia and contributed to a first-place finish in the Estonian Championships and a second-place result in the Estonian Cup during the 2024–25 campaign.

“I chose WVU because I align with many of the same values that the coaching staff has,” Kask said. “There are amazing people at WVU, and I’m excited to be a part of this team.”

Kask attended Tallinn School No. 21 and has been recognized as a standout middle blocker throughout her youth and club career. She plans to major in journalism at West Virginia University while pursuing opportunities both in professional volleyball and media.
