Men's Basketball Posts Best Record Since 1981, Downs Glenville State 73-70

D&E men's basketball made history on Wednesday night (February 15) at the Waco Center in Glenville thanks to some late-game heroics from Junior Guard Sam Rolle and a strong overall effort from the entire team.

After heading into halftime with a six-point lead over Glenville State, the Senators were outscored in the second half as the Pioneers tied the game at 70 with a long three-pointer from Jordan "Turbo" Smith with just under 16 seconds to go. With no timeouts left, Rolle took over. He brought the ball up the length of the court, attacked his man with a dribble move, and stepped back into a historic three-ball with four seconds left to take a 73-70 lead, and ultimately clinch the first winning season for D&E since coach Joe Super's 1980-81 squad, and the most wins since the 1958-59 team finished at 16-12.
Rolle led the way with 20 points and eight rebounds, while Seniors Evan Busby and Jordan Alexander chipped in 12 points each, with eight and three rebounds, respectively. D&E held Glenville to 38.6% shooting from the field.

The Senators are now 15-10 (9-10 MEC) on the year with three games remaining, and have also clinched a MEC tournament berth. While still in eighth place in the league standings, the Senators are just one game behind Glenville State and Concord, who they will host at home this Saturday, February 18 at 4:00pm EST.
