Men's Basketball Downs Frostburg

Davis & Elkins Men's Basketball extended its historic run winning its third game in a row and seventh of the last eight Wednesday night at Frostburg State 91-83.

Trailing by double-digits late in the first half, the Senators began chipping away at the Bobcats' lead and eventually tied the game at 70 apiece with 6:54 left to play. Following a pair of lead changes, the Senators were able to mount a pair of defensive stops and put the game away; grabbing the lead with 2:32 remaining and not relinquishing it.

Last week's Mountain East Conference Player-of-the-Week, Sam Rolle turned in another brilliant performance, scoring 28 points on 9 of 18 shooting. He was a near-perfect 8 of 9 at the line, including 4 of 4 in the final minute of the game. Rolle also contributed five assists and four steals.

Five other Senators scored in double figures. Claren Pierre scored 13 points on 4 of 4 attempts and was 5 of 6 from the line. Evan Busby scored 12 points on 4 of 9 shooting and was 4 of 4 from the line.  Breland Walton scored 11 points on 4 of 6 shooting and was 5 or 6 from the line. Vadim Clanet scored 10 points on 4 of 6 attempts.

D&E is now 17-10 overall and 11-10 in the MEC. The Senators sit tied with Glenville State in the sixth spot in the MEC with one game remaining. Glenville currently holds the tiebreaker due to their record against common opponents.

The Senators close out the regular season with a home tilt against West Virginia Wesleyan Saturday at 4pm. Six seniors will be recognized for their contributions to the program at the Senior Day ceremony.
