WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), Ranking Member of the Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee, and member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced $140,684,000 in funding from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act to reclaim abandoned mine lands (AML) in West Virginia.

“When crafting the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, providing our state the resources needed to reclaim and revitalize abandoned mine lands was a key priority,” Ranking Member Capito said. “Today’s announcement of that funding coming to West Virginia is welcome news for communities across our state, and will enable us to improve water quality, create jobs, and drive our economy for years to come.”
