U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia delivered the keynote address at the Keystone Space Collaborative’s 2024 Conference in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The conference focused on the impact of the space industry on the Appalachian region's economy and job market.

Senator Capito emphasized West Virginia's significant contributions to the space economy, stating, "I was proud to reiterate that message at this year’s Keystone Space Conference where we highlighted the important role our state—and the entire Tri-State region is playing when it comes to strengthening our collective contributions to the space enterprise."

The conference aimed to initiate a regional strategy for becoming a national leader in the global space economy. Justine Kasznica, Board Chair and Founder of the Keystone Space Collaborative, expressed confidence in this goal. "This is a bold, and even an audacious task and claim, but I believe that we as a region are good for it," she said. She also praised Senator Capito's support and advocacy for the space industry.
