U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito made several visits in West Virginia's North-Central and Northern Panhandle regions to discuss economic development initiatives. The senator, who serves on the Senate Appropriations Committee and the Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee, focused on local projects during her trip.

In Bridgeport, Senator Capito met with city leaders, including Mayor Andy Lang, to talk about economic development efforts. Discussions centered around grants and Congressionally Directed Spending awards that she helped secure through her role on the Senate Appropriations Committee.

The senator also attended a groundbreaking ceremony for Prime 6’s new facility in Fairmont. The company specializes in sustainable wood products and has support from investor Kevin O’Leary, known as "Mr. Wonderful" from television. Governor Jim Justice joined Senator Capito at the event. She had previously met with O’Leary to explore investment opportunities in West Virginia.

Senator Capito concluded her tour at the Mitchell Power Plant in Moundsville, where she spoke with plant staff about energy solutions and priorities for the upcoming Congress session. She emphasized her commitment to ensuring West Virginia plays a significant role in American energy production.

“West Virginia is open for business, and it was great to make stops across several counties to meet with leaders who are at every stage of investing in our state," said Senator Capito.

Photos from these events document Senator Capito's engagements with community leaders and officials throughout her visit.
