U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito announced funding from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for Ravenswood, West Virginia. The funding comes through a Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS) request made by Capito in Fiscal Year 2022.

The funds will be used for upgrades to the city's wastewater facility. The project includes pump station upgrades, telemetry equipment installation, flow meter installations, emergency power transfer switch installations, portable generator purchases, smoke testing and manhole inspection, and wastewater treatment plant design.

"Expanding West Virginia’s water infrastructure is critical in helping us reach our economic potential," said Capito. "The upgrades made possible by this CDS award will help the wastewater facility match growing demand in Ravenswood with modern pumps so they have the infrastructure necessary to address the water needs of local homes, schools, and businesses and prevent disruption."

Capito highlighted her roles on the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee and Appropriations Committees as instrumental in securing these resources for Ravenswood.

The individual award details include a $2 million EPA CDS award to replace existing pumps, controls, panels, and valves for eight pump stations and install a new telemetry system for one pump station. These upgrades aim to eliminate sewage flooding into buildings and provide proper sewage facilities for Ravenswood residents.
