U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito from West Virginia released a Thanksgiving message expressing gratitude for the blessings enjoyed by West Virginians and Americans. In her video message, she also thanked service members deployed overseas who cannot celebrate with their families.
In the message, Capito shared personal memories of past Thanksgiving celebrations with her family. She stated, “Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. It's a time when we get together with our family and our friends, sometimes at somebody's house, sometimes you go somewhere that everybody can gather.”
She encouraged West Virginians to cherish time spent with loved ones and honor the memory of those no longer present. Reflecting on her own experiences, Capito recalled, “I know for me, I think about the wonderful Thanksgiving dinners that mom and dad had for us with my dad's extended families."
Capito emphasized appreciation for living in what she described as "the greatest state, in the greatest country in the world." She also highlighted the importance of remembering service members unable to be home during this holiday season: “We owe those brave men and women so much for protecting us every day."
The senator concluded by expressing her personal gratitude: "So, I am personally very grateful for my wonderful family and our great friends and the opportunity to serve you, my fellow West Virginians."
