U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito has expressed her support for Marco Rubio's confirmation as U.S. Secretary of State. Rubio was confirmed with a unanimous Senate vote of 99 to 0.

Capito highlighted her experience working alongside Rubio in the Senate, particularly noting his expertise in foreign policy and his dedication to promoting national interests globally. "Having served with Senator Rubio here in the Senate, I have had the opportunity to work with him closely and see firsthand his profound understanding of foreign policy and commitment to advancing our nation’s interests on the global stage," she stated.

Rubio's leadership roles on both the Senate Foreign Relations and Intelligence committees were emphasized by Capito as crucial in shaping national security policies. She expressed confidence that his extensive experience would be beneficial in his new position. "Our nation currently faces difficult international challenges that require strong leadership. Senator Rubio’s knowledge and determination will be key when it comes to advancing American interests, strengthening our alliances, and confronting our adversaries," Capito added.

Capito also mentioned her anticipation of collaborating with Rubio and the Trump administration moving forward.
