Senators announce EPW subcommittee assignments for 119th Congress

U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito and Sheldon Whitehouse have announced the Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee subcommittee assignments for the 119th Congress. Senator Capito, a Republican from West Virginia, serves as the Chairman of the EPW Committee, while Senator Whitehouse, a Democrat from Rhode Island, is the Ranking Member.

Senator Capito stated, "Each of these subcommittees play an important role in developing solutions that tackle the infrastructure, energy, and environment challenges within EPW’s jurisdiction. I’m confident in the ability of our chairs to lead these panels effectively, and continue EPW’s track record of getting things done. I look forward to working with our subcommittee leaders and members to address the issues most important to the American people."

Ranking Member Whitehouse added, "Our subcommittees cover many issues that are essential to ensuring clean air, clean water, a healthy climate, and modern infrastructure. I look forward to working together on these important topics."

The Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee will be chaired by Senator Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.), with Senator Angela Alsobrooks (D-Md.) serving as Ranking Member. The Clean Air, Climate, and Nuclear Innovation and Safety Subcommittee will be led by Chairman Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.) and Ranking Member Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.).

Senator John Curtis (R-Utah) will chair the Chemical Safety, Waste Management, Environmental Justice, and Regulatory Oversight Subcommittee with Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.) as Ranking Member. The Fisheries, Wildlife, and Water Subcommittee will be chaired by Pete Ricketts (R-Neb.), with Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) serving as Ranking Member.
