U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito has expressed her support following the Senate's confirmation of Lee M. Zeldin as the new administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The Senate confirmed Zeldin with a vote of 56-42.
Senator Capito, who serves as Chairman of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, stated, "Today, the Senate has confirmed an EPA administrator who is well qualified and capable of returning the EPA to its core missions of protecting our land, air, and water, without inhibiting economic development."
Capito highlighted Zeldin's commitment to addressing environmental needs while collaborating with Congress. She noted his background in both military service and as a Congressman, expressing confidence in his ability to lead the agency effectively.
"I have been continually impressed by Congressman Zeldin’s character, and his dedication to our country through service in both the U.S. Army and Congress," she said. Capito believes that Zeldin will be a key figure in President Trump's cabinet for tackling environmental, infrastructure, and energy challenges.
