2022 Appalachian Festival Street Fair Contest Winners

Thanks to everyone who participated, helped, performed, or attended the Appalachian Festival Street Fair on Saturday!

2022 Appalachian Festival Street Fair Contest Winners and THANK YOUs:

Food contest – Savory and Sweet categories (note that scores were very close):

Savory – 1st Place – Fosters’ chicken fried rice and spring roll; 2nd – Bro. Marsh BBQ’s pulled pork BBQ sandwich; 3rd Place – Sage & Lila’s pepper jelly

Sweet – 1st Place – Beckley Pride’s macaroon; 2nd Place – The Cake Box’s chunky monkey cupcake; 3rd Place – Hilltop Coffee’s bear claw

Other booth categories: Most Attractive Booth: 1st – Hilltop Coffee; 2nd – The Cake Box; 3rd Sun Bear Artistry

Peoples’ Choice favorite booth: 1st Hilltop Coffee; 2nd – Bro. Marsh BBQ; 3rd – Little Jimmy’s Italian Ice

Oreo-stacking contest team winners: Alyssa Lilly & Jennifer Skaggs

Thanks to all the vendors:

Food – Beckley Pride, Bro. Marsh BBQ, Hilltop Coffee, Little Jimmy’s Italian Ice, MAD Concessions, Tea Time, The Cake Box, The Lunch Wagon, along with Coffee on Main and Fosters.

Non-food booths: Beckley Rocks (rock painting), Destiny Ministries, Dezi’s Face Painting, Frontier, Raleigh County Democrats, Redemption Church, The Health Plan, and WV Poor Peoples Campaign.

Pop-up Shops: Olivia’s Handcrafted Goods, Sage & Lila, Sun Bear Artistry, and Wicks Out Works

Downtown businesses open during the event: Beckley Axe-Hole, Cheers, Coffee on Main, Fosters, International Grocer, and Tickety Boo Mercantile

Thanks to the fantastic bands – New River Jazz, Untrained Professionals, Seeking Altitude, Seth Hughes, Matt Mullins & the Bringdowns – Special thanks to the Irish Heritage Festival for sponsoring the music!

THANKS to those who helped with the event – Public Works for setting up all the tables and chairs, etc., plus thanks to Gavin, Michael, and BPD for blocking streets and directing vendors to spaces; the volunteers who collected samples for the judges (Youth Council’s Trinity and Michael, pageant family Jennifer and Christy, and Ann); the celebrity judges, and to Lola and Southern Communications along with Walmart for sponsoring the Oreo-stacking contest.

THANK YOU so much to EVERYONE who attended!  

We appreciate being part of the Appalachian Festival. Thanks to the media for their help promoting the event.
