Bethany Connect Speaker Series – Dave Sims ’75

January 17, 2023 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Join us via Zoom at 7 p.m. ET on Jan. 17 as Dave Sims ’75 leads a conversation about having “No Such Thing as an Ordinary Day in the Life of a Sportscaster.” Click here for the Zoom link.

A beacon to Mariners fans and the city of Seattle is sportscaster Dave Sims ’75. Through goal setting and overcoming societal standards, he is well known as only the third Black full-time MLB play-by-play announcer. He is a three-year consecutive winner of the Washington Sportscaster of the Year for the state of Washington by the National Sports Media Association. Along with his reign over Washington sportscasting, Sims is a two-time Emmy winner, recipient of the 2003 American Football Foundation’s Outstanding Sportscaster award, and the Big East Media award in 2005. With expertise in effective communication and command over the English language, Sims will give us a play-by-play of his life in the world of sportscasting.

Sim’s spotlight during this Speaker Series will feature an interactive Q&A segment. Through the submission form, we invite you to send in your questions, prior to the Zoom call, to be part of the conversation.

Bethany College and the Alumni Council are excited to bring you the annual Bethany Connect Speaker Series. On select dates, the Bethany community will gather to think about the questions raised by our times. This year, the Speaker Series will feature distinguished alumni from many different fields of study, who will not only highlight their wisdom, but invite you to dive into deeper conversation and understanding.
