Record Setting Meet for D&E Swimming Teams at MEC/GMAC Championships

The Davis & Elkins Swimming teams competed this week at the Great Midwest-Mountain East Conference Swimming & Diving Championships, hosted by Malone University February 7-10 in Canton, Ohio. Several new team records were set during the competition, while the teams as a whole finished near the middle of the pack in the MEC. The Frostburg State men's and women's teams ultimately came away with the MEC Championship, while the D&E women finished 7th and the men 6th.

On the individual side, Junior Shelbey Fuller was a standout for the D&E women, setting new team records in the 100 Butterfly (1:00.12) (Honorable Mention - All-MEC), 100 Breaststroke (1:08.30) (Honorable Mention - All-MEC), and 200 Breaststroke (2:28.68) (Second-Team - All-MEC). For the men, Senior Vignesh Muley led the way for the Senators, setting a new team record in the 200 Butterfly (1:57.73) and earning Second-Team All-MEC honors in the 1000 Freestyle (10:10.94).

The Men's 400 Medley Relay team set a new team record (3:24.65) and placed second overall in the event, comprised of Senior Geoff Dixon, Junior Enrique Garcia, Muley, and Senior Jiwh Santos. The same quartet also set a new mark in the 800 Freestyle Relay (6:58.34) while placing second overall in that event, as well as a new team record in the 400 Freestyle Relay (3:08.56).
